Prof. Dr. Mohammed Alauddin
The ENT and Head-Neck Cancer Foundation of Bangladesh was founded by Late Prof. Dr. Mohammed Alauddin, one of the country’s most distinguished specialists in otolaryngology and head & neck surgery. Driven by a conviction that specialist cancer care should be accessible to all Bangladeshis, he channelled decades of clinical excellence and international standing into building a centre of excellence in Dhaka.

International Leadership
Dr. Alauddin was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Societies (IFOS), Secretary General of the SAARC Otolaryngologists Association, and President of the Society of Otolaryngologists and Head Neck Surgeons of Bangladesh. He served on the editorial board of multiple international journals and chaired the editorial board of the Bangladesh Medical Journal.
He was a sought-after examiner and educator at Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons, Dhaka University, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University — training generations of ENT specialists across South Asia. He also received two oration awards from the Indian Society of Paediatric Otolaryngology and the Association of Otolaryngologists of India.
Dr. Alauddin passed away in April 2011 in Dhaka at the age of 66, after suffering from lung cancer for over 5 years. His legacy endures in every patient treated at the hospital he founded — particularly the 30% who receive care free of charge. His 10th death anniversary was commemorated by the Foundation in 2021.
